I don't think any one of us use our air rifles as much as we should.
The best part about air rifles you can use in your basement or your garage or your backyard.

Rich, you seem like the type of guy that would really get into air guns. So many of these guys do their own tuning. Take a nice Beeman R7 and put one of these kits in it, and boy is it a nice back yard shooter. No twang, and quiet as a mouse.

I'll stick to the gun powered bullets, unless some nutty squirrels start eating things up in my back yard then it's pellet rifle time again.

Meanwhile I scored a box of 50 each, .223 Remington 55 Gr MC and a box of 22 Long Rilfe, 525 Golden Bullet Value Pack at Sportsman's Warehouse today. Their truck comes in on Sunday Night. It hits the shelfs on Monday. They've stopped their employee discount program and store the high demand ammunition in Customer Service and ration it out 1 box per customer, per caliber. Rumor says that their employee were scoffing up on the ammo, so they instituted a rationing system. They were sold out by 5:00.

$21.99 per box.

Stopped by my LGS today to chat with some friends. Lo and behold they had 22.ammo! About 6 boxes of Thunder Bolts at $7.49 per box of 50! What a deal! Happy days are here again!

They asked me if I wanted any. I said no thanks, save them for someone else. I then went over to Walmart and bought a tin of 500 pellets for about the same price.

A nurse at work was saying she couldn't buy ammo for her kid's .22s and I said I'd spot her a brick. She said it'd last about a day.

one of my local shops has AmEagle 22lr now on a pretty regular basis (Shooters Supply / Louisville) for less than $2 a box (limit 1 box/day). they also have a bunch of CCI subsonic. but the store is run by a bunch of condescending jerks so I try to spend as little money there as possible.

It's starting to get old. I have a stock pile of ammo, especially .22s, but I shoot a lot of .22s at a time.

That's why you gotta have a lot on hand....when I take 3 grandkids shootin they burn up a lot of 22..........

To the best of my knowledge, serious rimfire target shooters that I used to know in our area shot mostly Eley ammo.

Muk......I have been shootin Eley Tenex in my Anschutz Sporter 54 for at least 20+ years....
It is high dollar ammo but I get good results from it...( 20 bucks or more for 50 rounds )
I don't use Eley Tenex in Non match grade rifles...( Not worth the effort and expense )

But to answer your question:
Eley does make lower grades of ammo and over the years has had many names for each grade...
Even the lower grades are fantastic....but you get what you pay for....

Eley does lube most of their ammo so you will get some on your fingers when loading.....
But it does wipe off your fingers easily....And is a whole lot cheaper..... ;)

My Cabelas had stacks of CCI mini mags and Lake City M193 this afternoon. $8.99 for the 22lr limit 1 and $9.99 for the 5.56 limit 5. They also had Herters 7.62x39 for $7 or $8 a box but I didn't need any of it. Sales guy said they had bulk 22lr this morning for about 5 minutes.

Up until just a few months ago, the Fleet Farm stores in our area had the Lake City M193 ammo for $6.99 a box (20). I bought about 1200 rounds of that stuff over a few months in 2012. Now I have plenty of brass for loading my M193 clone ammo. I also have about 1200 bullets (55gr ball with cannelure) and primers plus powder (Win 748) so I'm set for a while, fortunately.
