I’ve got a Stevens 530A 12ga side-by-side. It’s in outstanding shape and I got it for free. I was given it in return for helping a buddy out.

Anyways, thinking of paying the $200 and registering it as an SBS, then cutting the barrels down to the forend and reshaping the stock into a pistol grip, ala Mad Max.

Why? Why not!? I have no practical use for it, but always thought they were cool.

i would leave the stock and cut the barrel if you plan on actually shooting it. but don’t let my advice stop you from pursuing your dreams.

also my memory is a little fuzzy...but is stock-less under 18” barrel shotgun a SBS or an AOW? both require a stamp but the AOW stamp is only $5.

Starts life with a stock = SBS
Starts life with pistol grip = AOW

I'm no ATF agent, and I haven't stayed at a Holiday Inn Express either!

Do it. One day I will do the same thing because I always want a double barrel boom stick like that.

I think eventually I’m going to do a SBS with my mossberg Shockwave.

That would be a nice build and as others have said, you would only have the labor and the tax stamp in it!

What? The Shockwave is fun and I like it but a stock makes it much more useful

I'm pretty sure that he thought that when you said "SBS" you meant side by side instead of short barreled shotgun?

I knowed what he meant. That gun doesn’t need a stock to be more useful.

I’ve got plenty of useful shotguns, including an SBS Rem870 from Wilson Combat that does have a stock on it. For the SxS, I don’t want useful.......I want cool as fuck ala Mad Max!
