@Jake I think I might be buying a 1911 soon. Need a threaded barrel. Any suggestions under $1500? I'm looking at a Kimber Desert Warrior. On paper it looks good. Haven't laid hands on one yet. Also looked at a Sig Scorpion. Did get hands on it. Just kinda wish it had a more traditionally styled slide.

For $1,500 I'd sell something else and come up with ~$400 more and buy a Dan Wesson Discretion. It is going to be twice as good a 1911 as either the Kimber or the Sig. It already has suppressor height night sights and it is tuned to run suppressed from the factory so you (more than likely) won't have to mess with tuning it to run properly suppressed. Plus, it's railed so you drop a light or laser on there and you have one badass, and quiet nightstand gun.

Funny, as soon as I read his original post I said "DW Discretion, used or save for new". That thing is awesome. Once I cover my,gun bases in preparation for the eventual AWB or AWB lite I want one

They do look really good. And CZ makes good stuff. So DW is top notch I'm sure. Never laid hands on one.

They are easily the best for the money below $2000 new. They used to be even better value when their MSRPs where more in the 1400-1600 range. Next step up is a used Led Baer in the same price range, but no threaded options from them. Then Ed Browns. I never had a WC, but I had several DWs, LBs, SAs, and EBs

I'd go as far as to say that DW might be a better gun than even a Les Baer.

Have y'all heard of Roberts Defense? They had a write-up in Recoil Concealment this month. They look pretty damn good. Little more than my approved budget. Lol

Depends on what your criteria are...but I wouldn't say that a DW is in any meaningful way not as good as a LB. For me, picking the two up, the LB just has the custom (yet I know it isn't custom) x factor feel that the DWs don't. The DWs function, but feel more like a fully evolved and refined SA to me.

I only own one 1911 with TB and its an AAC enhanced R1. Never had an issue with it and it has been factory tuned. I own a Kimber Desert Warrior (non threaded), Sig TacOps 9mm, DW Guardian 9, and a few others non threaded versions. I've looked at the DW Discretion in the LGS; but the price with tax is pushing 2K. 1911's with TB are not that common; so good hunting and keep us posted. Just prepared to pay dearly for one and get what you want.
