Settled up on a deal with @dougiemac today, and while up in his neck of the woods I made a stop at CG&P!

Shop is everything, everyone has described!!!! Best part is they had a couple AR stripped lowers that I walked right into. Surprise... Ruger AR556 stripped lower! Thought that GGS was going to be my best deal on one, nope! CG&P was a little lower on price, so I jumped!!

This will be my first time assembly, so I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to do! I am considering doing a 9mm build or possibly a .300 blk! However, I certainly want to make it an SBR!

What's best suggestion: go with multical uppers, or do dedicated?!

Huh?

The point of the platform is that it's modular. Unless you're getting a Glock lower or something it'll shoot whatever you have an upper for.

Yeah, i'm lost on this one. Just build the lower and buy an upper in one of the probably 15+ calibers compatible with the AR15 platform...

I enjoy my 9mm build. I bought a KAK industries top loading magwell adapter. In hindsight I wish I had got a Hahn bottom load adapter. That way I could take it out easily. Especially if you're gonna SBR it. I'd probably sbr it as a 10.5 5.56 though. That way it would be a cheap upper that was pretty versatile and you wouldn't mind keeping around.

Whelp... made another step closer to building a SBR, puchased a complete 16" upper! Need to get a new trust done, and get Form1 rolling!

Everyone agree in 5.56, that 10.5 is as short as you want to go, for best results?

My 5.56 pistol is a 10.5". I wouldn't go shorter personally. That one of mine was uncomfortable to shoot until I added the KX-3 "flash hider" to it. Now it's fine.

Just remember the US military went with 14.7" for a reason.
