Nope... Didn't even dawn on me till I went to install it.

But I'm ok with no flats bc it decreases overall length. Since the entire mount goes inside the can unlike my YHM can.
It looks like the flats are similar to the AAC brake, integrated with the body on top and bottom.

This one the one you're saying has flats on the body?

Maybe it was their original design but the below one is the one it ships with and has no flats unless you use the actuall brake part.

Actually, the brake appears to have notches at 90 degree intervals around the circumference at the thread end indicating the use of pin style spanner wrench.

nope, only 3 unevenly spaced notches. They're there for the Qd attachment.

Should still be able to use a pin spanner wrench as it only needs one. Hell sticking anything through the slots will work cause they ain't gonna bend!
