This is a S&W 4043, in 40 Caliber. S&W Models 4006 / 4043 /4046 were the first guns to be specifically engineered to fire the .40 S&W Round. She's got an alloy frame, but an all stainless steel slide, DA Only, with a 4 inch barrel. She weighs in at 2.04 lbs. She's a full size combat gun and uses a 10 round magazine.

She's accurate, being designed for a 165 ft range. But not a good carry piece except in the fall and winter when additional clothing makes her an easier carry. I used her at my last CWP class and she made an impressive showing.

She is primarily a house gun these days but when I go out of town she usually travels in the glove box. Most of the time she goes along with the Sig P-239, 9mm as a main carry and the Ruger LCP 380 as a BUG.

I picked her up at a Police Trade in a LGS in Mar 2006. She was manufactured in 1995 and is one old reliable weapon.
