So, for a general purpose house/range gun, which would you pick? A P320 RX or a P226 RX? I like the idea of a P226 RX as it is a proven, classic design that really only loses in the weight category, but in a house gun that doesn't really matter.

The P320 RX is cheaper, but not by a huge amount. It is the latest, though compared to a P226 I would necessarily say greatest from Sig.

I like both, and am really trying to consolidate from a bunch of guns I dont use to a few quality, purpose driven pieces.

The cost isn't too much of a concern, as I am going from quantity to quality.

For enjoyment at the range, I'll take a hammer over a striker every single time. For concealed carry I'm coming around on the striker stuff, but they are nowhere near as fun to shoot in my opinion.

Ccw is filled by a P365...this is strictly HD and range fun

Yes, I've heard ZERO good thing about their pistol dots from my co-workers at the LGS.

I've had someone tell me at a LGS that a DA gun is dangerous for CCW....among other things. I'd listen to the internetz before I listened to most people at gun shops...

ok...so Legion DA/SA or Legion SAO?

I really don't know if I am going to go with the RX model. An extra $300 for a red dot that would provide a questionable improvement seems a bit much.

The only thing that sucks about the SAO versions is that the slide stop/release is right next to the thumb safety that protrudes out which would make it difficult to manipulate.

You'd probably have to manually rack the slide back on a mag change which might be difficult to do with a red dot without getting oil from your fingers all over it and possibly blurring your vision in the optic or accidentally hitting one of the buttons on the red dot. Just thinking out loud here. If it were me I'd still get a SAO version with the red dot if it were just for HD use and put a light on it with a 20rd extended mag.

Do the RX models come with a plate that you could put on it if you decided to take the dot off?
