Thanks Ray. I remember those days in my 51 Ford then my 57 dodge convertible.
All my buddies with chip in 50 cents each and we drive around all day long.
Those were the days.

I am 49 and I grew up on a used car lot detailing cars. I started mowing, cleaning office, and detailing cars at age 12. They called me Milk Crate and eventually just Milk because I was so short that I carried a milk crate around to stand on. I worked there until I was almost 20 and was the biggest person there when I left. ;D

Mechanically today's cars are pretty awesome. For sex appeal they are a big dud. Thanks for the pics. I loved looking at them.

In 1960 I was working in a small filling station body shop.
I was welding patches and restoring and customizing the cars of the fifties.
Back then to 265 Chevy small block was a awesome motor.

That's funny Bigdog! I was just the opposite! I was always a 'Big Kid" in elementary school, big and heavy! When I was in the 4th grade and wanted to play football I had to play with the 6th grade team so I wouldn't hurt the smaller 4th graders. That's when the nickname mukwah was pinned on me, which translates somewhere to "Bear". Well to make a long story short I stopped growing At 5'9". Got drafted in '72 and rigorous Recon training must have changed my metabolism because I haven't gotten out of the 175-190 lb range since!
Talking about the cars, my dad had a 58'Chevy when I was a kid and with 4 brothers, all a year apart, we had a mobile bathroom for long trips! He drilled a 1 1/2" hole in the back floorboard and we would just take turns! Just cover it back up with the floormat when we got through!!!

If you have a 1 1/2" hole in the floor of your car to pee through...........you might be a redneck. ;D

In the size catagory, I was the smallest kid in my class until 6th grade. I still had not grown any but another kid finally moved in shorter than me. Man I was glad to see him. About 9th grade I finally started growing and even grew 2 more inches after high school. In my 30's I ran into a guy that was the center on my 6th - 8th grade basketball team. He was complaining that he wasn't tall enough to get on the with the state police. Early bloomers! I always wondered where mukwah came from.

Back around 1980 I chopped a top on a 1948 FORD pickup.

Rich the second vehicle I ever owned was a 48 Ford pick up. It was yellow with flames that changed from red to purple to blue. It looked really awesome from about 75 yards. With each step it looked a little rougher. Up close it looked like it had been hammered together by a blacksmith. I bought it laying in a field with a blown freeze plug and a large bee's nest in it. I made a little money on it but it was a real basket case in the looks department.

Yours looks a lot better!

Rich, tell us more about that cut pick up. I had a '56 Chevy pick up with a 327 Vette motor not all that long ago.

When I was a boy, in East Tennessee, all the gas stations had dirt track race cars. In fact, the guy that fixed my war wagon has one.
