I had no idea they made AK's chambered in 6.5 Grendel. Was looking on the K-VAR website at Molot Vepr's and saw these...

Can the AK platform be built to put accurate holes in paper say as good as the AR platform. Can it do it past 400-500 yds
I think if you have the right barrel paired with the right bolt and a quality load..... Why not? With the tighter tolerances it wouldn't have the legendary dragon through the mud reliability, but why would you drag a precision rifle through the mud?

Here's a pic of why the issues with extractors on the .125 bolt are there because they are thinner than a standard 556 or 6.5 Grendel. Make sure you buy the bolt and barrel combo.

Dad loved his 6.5 Grendel (AR platform). I think one of his pawn shop buddies called him once it was out of pawn, and before it went on the rack for the general population to buy. I remember some really good groups he sent pictures of-

So does the 6.5 face the same issues as the X39 round when it comes to bolt longevity?

The study on the 6.5G I've been doing tells me this:

SAAMI spec chambers and the 6.5G bolt is .136 and the bolts and extractors are good sturdy and strong. There is a chamber you can use the .125 bolt (same as 762x39) in like 264 LBC the problem is the weakened extractor (pic up above) The bolts aren't breaking under factory loads it's wildcat homeloads that give issues but that could be any round if you push the limits of it. The weak link is the extractors In the .125 bolt that's it.

@Red Dawn how's your 6.5 performing on the range?

I've got it setup and running great. Put a couple hundred down range no issues whatsoever. I'm just under 25yds zero thinking I'm close to a 100yd zero. I'll test its range soon I hope.

I figured you'd bring it to the CMP. We'll see how far we can stretch that bad boy out! I'm interested to see it run. I've never been around a 6.5.

@Rwjeter you can have some time behind the AR6.5G I'd like to hear what you think about it too.
I was hoping you'd say that! Lol. You know the VPT will be there too. Put as many rounds through it as you'd like. Side note, do you know anywhere that has match grade 22lr in stock local? I have anything from Federal brick, Winchester Max HP, Golden Bullet, CCI mini mag, Blazer, CCI AR Tactical, but I don't have any match rounds. I'm going to try to see how it groups with all of it for the review.

Ugh..... If I must..... Academy seems to always have the aguila. I've only ever shot their sniper sub sonics. (Smell like bubbles. Haha) I just have a hard time believing Mexican made Match ammo is to the same standard of some of the other American match ammos. I don't know. They might shoot circles around our stuff.
