I just read a few moments ago that Michigan has finally made it legal to hunt with a suppressor. This is particularly exciting to me since I will be moving back there in the near future to be near family.

Also a release on the ASA Facebook page: "Moments ago, Michigan became the 38th state to legalize suppressor hunting. The Natural Resources Commission voted 4-1 to amend Wildlife Conservation Order Amendment No. 1 of 2016, removing the proposed 30 dB restriction, as well as the subsonic ammo prohibition. The amended measure then passed by a 4-1 margin, bringing Michigan in line with the 37 other states which allow hunters to use legally possessed suppressors in the field! "

This is the only disturbing language I have read in the AG opinion so far. It seems only residents of the state would be able to legally hunt.

Schuette concludes in Attorney General Opinion 7260 that only Michigan residents in full compliance with federal laws may possess a federally-registered suppressor, also commonly referred to as a muffler or silencer. Possession of a suppressor without the proper federal authorization remains a five-year felony under Michigan law.
