saw those before and while honestly I like the looks of it, esp the lower I'd also be a little hesitant due to gas issues and just worried about structural durability. but none of that matters as theres no way in hell im paying 500 fucking dollars for a stripped upper lower set

Sure it will. The gas tube will still go into the gas key the same way. The pressures inside the receiver aren't necessary for cycling the action.
Downside is, the gasses would normally be blown out of the ejection port (mostly). With this thing, it's going everywhere. After a heavy day of suppressed shooting and the requisite application of lubricant, you'd probably look like an early 1900's blackface actor.

That's only a downside if that's not the look you're going for.

That's what I'm thinking. I wonder what it actually weighs? The ribs of the upper look much thicker than the sidewall of a standard upper receiver.
Billet is generally thicker. It has to be thicker to equal the strength of forged. Forged is basically compressed so it can be thinner and still have the same weight and strength.

Agreed. I fully understand the difference and that's why I'm not a fan of billet. It's also why I'm curious about the weight of that thing. I imagine that it's not significantly lighter than a forged upper.

Not really my thing. But Ted Danson might like it.
