That would be close to a 300BLK but in AK. A subsonic projectile in an AK. I bet you could use the Sheppard on that one too. Ammo seem expensive even for Wolf.

It's expensive and doesn't feed well out of 30 round AK mags. But it is pretty damn quiet.

I’d have to look at some ballistics before I’d buy. I can use smaller mags. It would maybe end up as a range toy or hunt with. I watched a Razor Dobbs hunt yesterday with a CZ Scorpion SBR with Omega can. Shot a +P hallo Point and took down a doe and a black buck. Range was 30-35 yds but practical for home defense.

$24.00 BUCKS FOR A BOX OF 20 ROUNDS !?!?!? Did I just read that right???? Not to mention a $3,000.00 AK from Krebs? Hard pass on that one. And, if I was to venture a guess, mags will be $50.00 to $75.00 bucks each... if you can find them. Build a 300 BO rifle, put a can on it, and call it good.

I think The rounds will come down with time and more importation. Think about how many countries make this ammo and issue it for their militaries? Even if it's only Spetznaz, I guarantee there's tons more 9x39 manufactured globally than 300 BLK. I really think it will be cheaper in the end.

Yeah, the price of ammo is ridiculous. Especially for AK shooters. Hopefully that will drop over time or this cartridge will fail commercially.

Slight modifications will get 10 round AK mags to work, but it doesn't feed too well out of larger capacity ones.

I thought 6.5G ammo would go down too but it went from $0.25 rd to $0.27 rd steel case and $1.00 for brass

It’s interesting. I’m shooting 220grn SMK’s at a nominal velocity of 1,000fps (manufacturer’s claim, I haven’t chrono’ed it), that’s 489 ft/lbs ME.

A sample load of the 9x39mm is a 259grn pill at 920fps, for 487 ft/lbs ME. Virtually identical.

Of course, you could handload that 259grn bullet and get it up to 1,000fps, that would give you 575 ft/lbs. All things considered, 88 ft/lbs is negligible. For instance, a 36grn CCI MiniMag at 1280fps has a ME of 131 ft/lbs.

I honestly figured there would be more energy out of the 9x39. Very interesting.

I shot an integral ar15 in 9x39 recently. It was heavier ammo, like 280gr or so. It sounded great.

Idk if ill buy a standard ak chambered in it, but ill probably pick up a bolt and barrel for an ar eventually

Looks like a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.
Thats where you arent seeing the bigger picture. This a long time coming, carefully crafted plan to get these rifles in the hands of the americans that want them.
2-3 years ago wolf started importing the ammo for semingly no reason. There wasnt a single production rifle available in 9x39. There were only a handful of custom rifles out there. Now we already have ar parts and an ak offering from a well respected builder.
Its only a matter of time. Is it for everyone? No. Is it a neat relic of the cold war? Absolutely.

I'd give my left testicle for a VSS Vintorez to hunt pigs with.
