I remember back in the day when you couldn't give a fixed carry handle upper away. I wish I had gotten more of them back then.

Hell yea that is nice.
Now I want to build an A1 style using a nodak retro lower.
That will be a project later in the spring.

I am working on getting my A1 back from Tommy. Brownells makes A1 lowers now as well as uppers and barrels. They have a whole retro line.

Very nice!

I have a commando build with the 11.5” barrel on a C7 type upper (A1 sight with the brass deflector and forward assist). Unfortunately I lack a picture of it for this thread. It’s probably my favorite AR to shoot with a suppressor.

When JSE had a sale on NDS “true” A1 uppers (with the forward assist and no shell deflector) I almost bought two for rebuilding my commando and IDF clones.

I have an old A2 upper with A1 stock with 20" hbar that was my first AR. Of course, it is chambered in the dreaded 7.62x39 and has some factory (7.62x39) Colt mags to match. It was my deer hunting rifle for years and worked very well.

I wish I hadn't sold mine.

I built an SP1 clone years ago because I came across a helluva deal on an old-school slick side fixed carry handle upper with the teardrop forward assist and an old-school lower with the non-gated mag release. I honestly forgot I had it until a few months ago when I was digging through the safe at my dad's house looking for some old .38-55 ammo to shoot my grandpa's old '94 Winchester. Other than that I sold a few others off dirt cheap because flat top uppers were the new rage and the prices on fixed carry handle uppers kept dropping so I wanted to get rid of them before they were worthless. Little did I know...lol

At one time I had two SP1 carbines and a full size plus 5 other various green label colts. I sold them all a few years back to buy a full auto mac 11 which the owner decided he didn't want to sell about the time I came up with the money.
