I always put tape over the jaws of a pair of channel lock pliers and squeeze it in slowly while aligning the catch. It’s pointless to try to use a punch on that one.

I have a small arms repair guy, I'd take it to if it was in Wisconsin. Sorry I can't help you out.

I use a zip tie to hold the spring compressed.

Snip it after you get the pin flared.
