sonovertime has been becoming more available at work so I've been picking up some shifts to buy an AR.

It will likely be my only one I ever have so I want something decent. I'm looking for something that will be reliable enough for a HD/SHTF gun.

It's use will be for Pretty much everything except hunting.

I'm going to have between 800-1000 to spend. Not concerned with an optic at the moment.

So what do y'all think?

I'm a fan of the cheap ARs.

And ammo.

Lots and lots of ammo.

Get a Colt and be done with it. They seem to be the benchmark and hold their value.

Pretty soon ARs are going to be the prizes in boxes of cereal if they keep dropping like they have.

What others have said.

BCM upper and lower or a Colt 6920.

You could also do the Colt OEM 1 (stripped 6920) and spend the extra $200-ish on an aftermarket stock, drop in hand guards, trigger guard, rear BUIS and mags. You will end up changing those out anyways...

OEM 1 ≈$750-$800 (give or take a few where you find one in stock)

Magpul STR $75
KAC trigger guard $30
MBUS $35
MOE handguards: $35
Pmag x 4 $45

Right around $1K

Thanks for the advice guys. Looks like it will be either BCM or colt. It will probably come down to what I can find in stock when the money gets there.

I have decided that AR's are a sickness... Honest to god, I have 7 or 8 of them, and all I want to do is build another, in a diffrent way, I have a Rock River LAR-8 and I want to build a PSA AR-10... I have, (at the moment) the biggest hard on for this Model 1 sales upper...

But all that being said, I'd buy a PSA, Doublestar, RRA, or BCM (and in that order)... And lots of ammo...
