I just got off of the phone with Alex Zimmerman, CEO of Guncrafter Industries. Our discussion eventually came around to the GI HOSS 1911. After speaking with him about the design tweaks to the 1911 platform, I'm pretty sure I'll eventually own one of these. He's basically identified all of the weak links in the 1911 platform and eliminated them...or as close as humanly possible. There's an article in the American Handgunner magazine that goes into detail of this pistol, and I'd suggest you read it if you are in the market for a 1911 that you can pass on down through the generations. This is one bad mamba jamba.

“Any chain is only as strong as its weakest link. In the case of the HOSS, we’ve upgraded the potential weakest links and they are all much stronger,” said Alex. “In a standard 1911 there may be parts failures after x-number of rounds in their normal MTBF cycles. I feel strongly we’ve decreased the likelihood of any failure exponentially in the HOSS. In fact, I think, with normal use — it may never happen.”

Sounds like a really nice gun. I think @_Jake_ had one of their guns.

Yep had a GI No Name (yeah, it's really called that). It was a one of three gun that Alex built himself. They were the first stainless No Names that Guncrafter built (mine was the only one with polished flats on the slide). They were dubbed the three amigos.

Oops, I might have to hold off for a day or two.

I'm gonna be really honest....As much as I loved my GI NN, I am never gonna buy anything more expensive than a Dan Wesson again. I carried my GI(being that mine was a special edition, I paid more for it than what they are asking for a HOSS) for about 6 months but I was always scared doing so. I can beat a Dan Wesson up and not feel too terribly bad about it. The fit and finish was REALLY nice on the GI, but not two to two-and-a-half times as nice as a Dan Wesson.
