I am not too impressed with 300 BLK. I bought a Handi rifle when I got my 30 cal can and was thinking about upgrading to an upper for one of the lowers I built but I am just not impressed with the round other thatn it is super quiet. Do I get an upper or dump the cartridge all together?

Unless you want it for super secret squirrel suppressed target killing 7.62x39 is about the same thing and orders of magnitude less expensive.

The only real benefit is that it makes a nice suppressor round and is common in ARs.

Do you hunt with it? In my mind the only "practical" use for .300 is quiet hunting.

If not the a .308 AR style precision (sp?) could be a cool gun you could still use the can on

but then I have to get a whole new AR. If I am getting into a semi auto .308 then I want to go the route of the M1A Springer

What about a 9mm upper? Cheaper then .300 and I think most .30 cal cans will shoot 9mm. But I may be wrong.

Honestly I'm just living vicariously through other people's rifles at this point so feel free to ignore my random ideas.

Reloading makes the round cost a non-issue. If shooting it super sonic, just shoot .223. For suppressed shooting, .223 is pointless and the heavy .308 bullet makes a big difference in the .300BLK.

It's a special purpose round- and it's purpose in my opinion is to be quiet and still deliver a big thump at 100 yards. If you don't have a need for that, then it's probably not worth keeping.

I loved my 300 blk ar pistol, 10 inch barrel and all. I was going to use it for deer hunting, and potentially SBR it, but funds got tight so I got rid of it along with another 5.56 ar. I wouldn't hesitate to build another one in 300 blk. Which is why I still have my dies for it.
I'm not here to convince you, but in the ar platform it's a fun range toy as well as a good/effective tool for huntin deer, hogs, & yotes...

You are wrong lol.

It's the other way around. Most 9mm cans are rated for 300BO Subs.

Please don't put 9mm through your .30 can. However if you do, you must film it and post it on YouTube.
