When it comes to a brace vs a stock where is the line drawn. I am mainly refereeing to the cz scorpion at this time. I have been looking at a crap ton of options and have narrowed it down to a couple different options. But now I am slightly confused on the determination by the atf on where they draw line. Here are the ones I am looking at.

If they call it a stock does that make it a nfa item?

ATF letter is about all I'd care about.

I keep a KAK tube and shockwave blade handy for taking out of state last minute when a 5320.20 isn't possible.

If you haven't, get the HBI trigger spring kit for it. Best $12 you'll spend.

I was regularly hitting 1 pound propane cylinders at 200 yards with mine last week using an Eotech.

Didn't really answer my question there. Do they consider the manticore arms as a stock and not a brace? Will it make a sbr?

It's can't be both. If it says it's a stock, its a stock.

The manticore would be a stock I’m sure. For it to be a brace it would have to be able to function the way a pistol brace is designed to.

But how does a pistol brace work?
They typically have a strap you wrap around your forearm so it helps support the weight of the pistol when firing one handed. If it can’t do that then it is a stock. Or in the case of the Shockwave brace it is very narrow which is supposed to let you torque it against your forearm for support.

A stock is not designed to be used that way which is why there is a difference.

So you are saying it would be an sbr then?
I'm saying that if a company advertises it as a stock and not a brace (and there's no atf letter to the contrary), installing it on a pistol would make it an un-registered sbr.

I'm no ATF expert, but this is what I was going to say.
