I saw a badass Gearheadworks Remington 700 (unsure chambering) in a pistol format at the NRAAM, super short barrel and tailhook brace. One badass, and fun looking piece of shootie stick.

I'd love to build one in 7.62x39. Anyone else thought about one of these?

Searching for a pic.

How would that work? Wouldn't it have to start life as a pistol in order to brace it since you can't turn a rifle into a pistol? Maybe buy a bare action and register it as a pistol? I know Brownells had bare Rem 700 actions for a while(they still might, I'm not sure).

I just found this on Snipers Hide...

Looks like it would be pretty fun. The owner of this gun built it because in his state you can use pistols during muzzleloader season. That's about the only purpose I can really see this being useful for. Other than that I agree with @ReservoirDawg10 about it just being a novelty item.

Yeah, this thing had maybe a 4" barrel and tailhook brace. It was super compact.
