Alright, I'm going on a hog hunt in October with some friends. I'm currently sighted in with some super primo, ASYM 70gr Barnes TSX solid copper bullets outta the ol' AR15. We all know the AR is the best choice for hunting all kinds of game due to it's military grade clips, so I'm just wondering if there's a better choice of bullet out there, or if this should suffice.

I'm thinking penetration, plus expansion is the ultimate hog combo.

Thoughts?

Notice the hog does have a penis.

Do you plan on eating what you kill?
Absolutely. I wouldn't go otherwise. Vadim is going to see if he can shoot and gut an animal. If not, he said he's going to be a vegetarian so he's not a hypocrite.

Well-placed 5.56 shots will do the trick but I prefer my 6.8 rifle - especially if I'll be on the ground walking.

The SSA 6.8 rounds are pretty impressive.

Yeah, I'm using the 5.56 though. We're "hunting" from a stand.

I can see Laufen passing up a 180 B&C because all that were on hand were Core-Lokts :pound:
Ammo is the hunting equivalent to tires in racing. They are just about the cheapest (relatively) necessary component, and it's where the rubber meets the road. I don't skimp on ammo. Even the best stuff is pretty cheap considering how little you use hunting, and it can make a difference.

Have you seen some of the hog hunting videos on YouTube? I think some of those guys that hunt from a stand just sorta spray and pray. I don't know if they even use their sights or optics. I watched one guy run a 30rd AR mag dry and all he got was a 30lb piglet. :pound:
