I like the AR 308 for this scenario, but I'm not Rambo and am too big of a pussy to carry that thing and the ammo for an extended period of time. If I could only grab one rifle to hit the road with, I'd probably take my AR74.

My parents have a sort of bugout/cult compound up in the north ga mountains. If I can, I've got to make my way up there.
If i get stuck in the atl..will need a place to rest up..any takers or leavers

I'm reloading it for the less than the price that I can buy .45 acp off the shelf. Around $0.40 a round.

Even at .40 a round that's still nearly double 7.62x39 or 5.45 for no real added benefit

Let's say you leave with no gun, kill a BG with your bare hands/feet/teeth and take his gun. Whatever that is, is the best caliber to have. Hands down.

Added benefits:

1) Sub or super sonic loadings that will function the action.

2) AR pattern rifles.

3) Operator.

None of which are specific to the 300 BLK except possibly the first at the cost of a dramatic decrease in effective range. It's just not a viable caliber when you get down to it unless you can afford to store several thousand rounds...from an end of the world as we know it scenario.

Neither is 5.45 really...but I have more than enough to last me years.

Then let me restate:

Added benefits:

1) Sub or super sonic loadings that will function the action accurate to 100yds.

2) AR pattern rifles that don't suck and do function.

3) Operator.

4) You like dudes.
