I'd love to see the breakdown, including thread pitch, barrel length, and all the other details.

nvm, prices have changed drastically.
Even still, though....a bolt, a mag block, and a barrel for under $200? No way...unless he has an angle or a steep discount.

http://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-ar15-9mm-conversion-lower-classic-blk.html (9mm dedicated lower)- $169

http://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-10-5-9mm-sqr-7-upper-with-bcg-and-charging-handle.html (10.5" upper and bcg and charging handle) - $349

Total= $518

Holy shit. Granted threads will be wonky, but the BCG IS ramped. barrel is still about 5" too long.
Yeah, but even still... that's $518 before shipping and before another $100+ to chop and rethread the barrel. No way anyone is building a 7" AR9 pistol for $450. No way.

I bought a complete upper with 10 mags and shitty mag block off ARFCom a few months back for 450. Sold the shitty magblock for 25 bucks and bought a Hahn for 200. That puts me at $625 in my 9mm gun, not counting the SBR lower and can I already owned and put it into.

I've found that the easiest way to build a gun cheap is to buy the parts you want at the best price you can find at the time. Order a whole bunch of parts for a whole bunch of different builds and then when it's all said & done you have a bunch of nice guns and absolutely no idea how much any of them really cost. Boom. My gun was cheaper than your gun because you can't prove that it wasn't.

Maybe psa will have that deal when I get ready (or should I say recouped) to get my 9 upper. I would just get Dobbs to cut and thread it for me and be good.

I guess I just wasn't prepared to have such a disparity in price/value. Most of my dealings have been, believe it or not, pretty respectable and reasonable.

I probably wouldn't have said 450 ...but one thing I don't care for with the Glock mag AR's is how the mag doesn't go straight into the lower, it goes in at an angle. That's the reason I am building one that takes UZI mags and goes straight in like a regular AR mag.

I'd have said 650 or so ....

450.00 sure, with what parts on hand already. Because you stock piled from a sale some months/years ago, doesn't count for shit!

You just bought a 64 chevy impala for $20,000.00, I bought one for $2,500.00, oh that was in 1964! NEXT PLEASE!

It seems to me that building ARs is a about like building a hot rod. You can't really go into it with any expectation of ever being able to get your money back out of it. Barring any gun control panic that may allow you to unload what you don't want anymore.

I agree unless you buy a top to mid tier complete lower and complete upper separately. Then you save on the excise tax.

You're right and I get that. I started at 8 which is just north of what I have in it. I'd have gone for 6 & 1/2 but to come back at 450? It just seemed ridiculous to me.

No, I was bartering....it's all part of the game, offer high, meet in the middle. And the only reason that I'm even trying to trade it is to get into a running vehicle before winter gets here. But please, don't let me stop your sanctimony.

Also, lol @ "billet cast forged milled and stamped."
