Air soft?

So I'm tired of the ammo shortage, as are we all I'm sure, so much so that I'm to the point where I'm thinking of doing this whole air soft thing. Not to stay practiced, but because I miss shooting things.

Thought I recalled of a guy or two in here that seem VERY into it and thought I'd stick my feelers out and see if it's truly where I want to go, or not.

So, to any of you who may partake in this world, what suggestions might you have? Info? How do they work? Do they have a slide that blows back? Doesn't seem like it would. I want a pistol. Not these junk looking see through plastic with orange tip monstrosities I hope.

Anyway, anything you can help with would be greatly appreciated!

What's the difference between green grass and standard co2? I found these two I like, but they are pretty different in price and I can only imagine that's why. One says fully licensed by Colt, the other says manufactured Remington. What's the diff?

Also found a Beretta 92 I need for life like shooting as well. But I'm starting to notice the are different BB sizes. 4.5mm & 6mm. Then there's one listed as firing 12g BBs. Some are metal, some are plastic... Man I'm overwhelmed and confused. Lol

Beyone the box, welcome to the world of Airguns. I have been devoted to this sport ever since the day I picked up a cheap air rifle at Walmart when I was frustrated at having to drive so far to a rifle range. Later a nicer rifle and on and on. While I could tell you a bunch about pellet rifles and pistols, I have never owned a "airsoft". I own a number of pellet pistols and some BB pistols I also am now thinking about a airsoft pistol that I can shoot in the house or garage. Pellet and BB action pistols work off of Co2. I am now considering a new Pellet pistol to take to the range with me. As I mentioned before, IRON PLATE ACTION SHOOTING IS REALLY BIG UK and now starting to pick up here in the US. The Beretta Pellet Pistol is a perfect example of the gun they shoot as well as the CP88. They have rifled barrels and at 350 fps to 450 fps, is actually pretty powerful at standard pistol ranges. I am personally looking at a Pellet action pistol like this one.

Airsoft seems to have it's own following and I too am now in the learning process. They are basically the same platform, but some do use green gas or propane and some are electric and some are spring piston. It is not hard to figure out which is the way to go. Many websites and videos of airsoft are on line and you will soon see the difference. I personally would just go with Co2 as the cartageS are easy to purchase and cheap especially when you factor in the cost of ammo. Replica airguns has tons of videos as well as Pyramyd Air. Airsoft has my interest because they are safer to use indoors.

Here is one:

good luck and we can chat later.

WARNING! AIRGUNS ARE A VERY ADDICTIVE SPORT- ENTER AT YOUR WON RISK!

I have several friends that practice IDPA stuff with airsoft guns. my son has a few. one if them is a Colt CQBR replica that is extremely accurate to about 25yds. zips the heavier bb's out at about 400fps and the lighter ones at about 450fps (less accurately though). rifle even weighs the same.

That replica airgun site has some really great info. I'm starting to understand the differences in BB, smaller 4.5 are steel and thus for outdoor use and 6 are plastic for outdoor/indoor. That's what I want, for inside the home and garage. There's some great informative reviews also, which have helped me greatly.

Think I've found my first two, may do a rifle later as well.

First one, looks like it's got a removable tip, even if not I'll saw it off...

Second, this one I'll have to either saw off or use nail polish remover...

Luckily my grandson has several of the air soft pistols as well as rifles and they are a blast to shoot! Couple of them will easily put a air soft pellet thru a pop can!

Yeah, I'm quite impressed with the velocity of some of them. I'm not exactly looking for something to use in competition, just a cute wee plinker for shooting boxes indoors. Keep me entertained while I wait for ammo to come back down to a reasonable price and availability. I've got enough to fill my mags for protection, for now that'll have to do.

If you want a little fun check out this little/big gem. I bought one about 3 years ago. Had a lot of positive feedback from my airgun forums. It is a Chinese clone of a Beeman (quality) P3 which retails for about $240. The clone is $39.00. Normally I am not much of a fan of Chinese knockoffs, but I have to admit they have come along way. This pistol in particular has a lot of very good quality and even shoots a little fast. It is a single shot and really a fun gun too shoot. I have shot the heck out of it and it still chrony's like brand new. By the way it is a single stroke Pneumatic

Any recommendation on lubing and type of lube? Standard silicon oil? Any specific spots I should pay attention to other than obvious moving Parts like slide and frame?

Yes, as soon as you get the pistol lube the outer cylinder with white lithium grease and the breech seal with Pellgun Oil.

Alright, I'm in deep already, just picked up a second before I even got my first. Lol

Set up a nice little gauntlet of targets in my house. All ordered online so I don't have them yet, kicking myself for not paying for expedited shipping now! Lol

Not my pics, will provide mine as soon as I get around to it, but here they be from website...
