I've used FedEx and UPS before to ship handguns in state. I used to do it all the time. It's perfectly legal. You just can't use USPS and you're supposed to tell them it contains a gun(that part always slipped my mind though, oops).

For a handgun you have to use a contract carrier(UPS, FedEx, etc) if in state ONLY for a handgun. Handguns can't go through the USPS unless going to an FFL. Must go to an FFL either way if out of state.

'00 and '01 had issues with the heads cracking. If I were to get an XJ I'd get a '97-'99 or if I got a smokin' deal on a '00-'01 I'd just budget in a junkyard 4.0 to throw in it eventually. Never heard of any model 4.0 throwing a rod though.
