I loved my PTR. 18" barrel, side folder, but it was damned heavy. Build quality was top notch, almost free mags, and the trigger was what you'd expect.

It was bigger and heavier than I wanted to carry, but considering the guns he listed, it should fit his requirements. The build quality was excellent, it shot well, but it was twice as heavy, and 50% wider than my LCP.

Take a peek at the Sig P290RS. You should be able to easily stay under $400.

Swiss K31. For $250-300 you get a gun that would cost $1800 today. They ergos aren't great, but they shoot like a house a fire, and have wonderful triggers.

Trade it for a grown up gun.

Usually 5-8 miles with some trails and some great hills mixed in.
