Cut the gas tube a little longer than needed, used a BFH and a tapered socket to act as a swedge, leave the socket in the tube and use a sheetmetal hammer to tap the starred part down into a circle against the socket, file to fit. Front and back needed some tuning.

General consensus on the new addition? I think I like it. Was back at it again for an hour with my wore out hacksaw blades. Should have bought new ones 10 years ago but I never remember! At least my files work great!
