Quick and Effective Scorpion EVO mod

The switchback grip is ok after rounding some edges off a bit. I'm sure Magpul will have options eventually, but for now it's fine. Yeah, it's SBR'd. Here's the pic before the Yetiwurks grip.

Yeah, it's been a big month for me.

    Make your own camo?

Hey Y'all. I was just out walking the dog in the woods, and I was thinking about how cool it would be to create my own signature camo that was simple enough for a cerakote applicator to replicate and apply to my firearms. There are a lot of commercially available patterns that look pretty...

Quick and Effective Scorpion EVO mod

Yeah but I just ground it off. There's no need to buy a $20 replacement ambi safety delete button. The problem is totally remedied in about 30 seconds.

Quick and Effective Scorpion EVO mod

Have a CZ Scorpion EVO? Thanks to @BosanaCZ I have a Yetiwurks Switchback on mine now, but the designers of the firearm didn't pay much attention to the human interface with the firearm. They were definitely going for an aggressive angular look, and that's fine for the most part. The places...

    24" vs 20" 556

    No. Don't go 24.

Interesting point on birdshot for HD

That's because mine is based in fact in yours is based on an assumption, that just so happens to not be supported by any facts anywhere. That's just the way it is there's really no getting around that. There is simply no data anywhere that shows a correlation between barrel length and pattern...

That's no theory, you'll burn all of your powder by 18" max.

Interesting point on birdshot for HD

You're quoting the success in certain competitions without understanding whether or not the length of the barrel is an important factor or not...just that it's what they've chosen (and you're not sure why or how it affects the pattern....just that they do it). There just isn't any data anywhere...

So again, you're saying the speed of the shot cup (not the length of the barrel) is the difference. Or are you saying ( you said you didn't) that the extra length barrel is slowing the speed of the shot cup, thus tightening pattern?

If you can't provide a single reason outside of some unknown, amorphous black magic, then that isn't proof.

Interesting point on birdshot for HD

Then what happens to the shot in the longer barrel? How does it know from which length barrel it slid?

There is zero mechanical reason this would be true.

Interesting point on birdshot for HD

So you're saying the function the long barrel is performing is slowing the shot.

Interesting point on birdshot for HD

There are a thousand articles out there like this, also I've done these types of tests informally myself when training at the Eagle Bluff Firearms training class put on by the company I worked for in the early 2000's. The things that matter if you want a tight pattern: Extended chokes...

Right, but nobody here is.. I'm simply saying that at close range it can be a motherfucker on a living target.

Interesting point on birdshot for HD

Again, the long barrels are being used because they provide a more precise platform for aiming. How is it that the pellets would be able to know which length of barrel they've slid from, and behave differently based on that knowledge. It simply doesn't matter with respect to pattern density.

Interesting point on birdshot for HD

I don't think anyone is advocating the use of birdshot for HD, we're simply refuting the claim that it's a "less lethal" option should you idiotically misidentify your target and shoot a non-threat.
