Freeze Dried / MRE survival food reviews

No worries, I appreciate the feedback. It would be nice to snag some "protein" or similar type bars here and there when I'm shopping to add to my stash, but I honestly know nothing about them. I figured I might grab some when they're on sale, but if they expire within a year, maybe not

Not sober? Could I interest you in a pristine, unfired SKS for $500?

I didn't buy any because the ones they had on the shelf expired this year; I didn't pull every bar, but after looking at 5-6 that had sell-by dates of 2015, I passed. If they were good for a year or 2, I might get some and cycle through

Well, as a matter of fact, the $1 sale at Kroger was what prompted me to post that .... I saw all Cliff bars on sale for $1 at Kroger today, but I hesitated as I wasn't sure if: 1. Is that a good deal 2. What do they taste like (no, I've never had a Cliff bar)

In addition to meals, I've been buying protein / energy bars when they're on sale to toss in my bags/kits. Are there any brands you guys seek out to store?

    Public toilets?

I'll bet money that the Henry Co fair is about 250% worse

Your mindset on home defense weapons?

I put one of these GG&G rails on my 930 to hold a SureFire, seems to be holding up pretty well after a few hundred rounds

Your mindset on home defense weapons?

Have you shot the gun with the NEBO installed? I had a buddy of mine buy one for a Mav 88, said he clamped it on as tight as he could, but after 6 rnds it scraped down his mag tube and quit working

Have you thought about a katana as part of your SHTF gear?

Yeah, I remember going into the range with my recurve and having to aim several feet higher than the target at 50yds just to get it on paper. You learn a lot from "lobbing" & trajectory when you start off low ;)

Then I think I'll pass on the 50yd challenge until I get up to speed again, I suspect I'm not quite as good as 20+ yrs ago

@Patryn, not to put you on the spot, but what feedback have you had at your shop with the different brands, if I may ask?

Have you thought about a katana as part of your SHTF gear?

I haven't shot a bow since I was a teenager, but back then I was in the back yard hitting bales or at the archery range every few days (this was with a recurve and a plain-Jane compound, no balancer or sights). I should probably get back into bows again, who knows, I might still be good at it ;)

Have you thought about a katana as part of your SHTF gear?

I know nothing more than the few reviews I've read online; but I've always wondered what the "collectors and testers" thought of the different options offered. Personally, I'd buy another bow and some more arrows before I thought about dropping that kind of green for a blade, but I'm really...

@Patryn posted up a 10% off from the Preppers Vault, not sure if it includes Mtn House products or not, but if you find a flavor you like, you might be able to get it through him cheaper at the 6-pack rate :noidea:

Freeze Dried / MRE survival food reviews

I know taste is subjective, but I honestly could not bring myself to eat a MRE if I had the ability to boil some water and make up a bag of the Mtn house or Backpacker's pantry. Now when we start getting into Wise flavors compared to MREs, well now we are in different territory; there are a few...

lol, don't watch that video comparison if you like Mtn House: Spoiler - it came 3rd in his review ..... personally I think it's a tie between Backpacker's Pantry and Mountain House on the Stroganoff (also one of my favorites), but I'm trying to remain as objective as possible. I will say that...
