I refuse to respond to your poll because of the options you offer. I don't check my chamber because I treat all my guns as if they were loaded, because all of my guns are loaded all the time.
For a small concealed gun, I would consider a S&W Shield. I'm a Glock fanboy, but the Shield is a great concealable sub-compact gun in 9mm. I wouldn't trust my life to a .380 unless you can seriously work on shot placement under stress.
