It fits tight this ended up being my my case! I actually had to sand down the upper HG for awhile to get it to fit.

happy with how it turned out!

I had one like that a couple of weeks ago. Surplus Romy, on a WASR. Sanded for half an hour. Tried to install with the retainer, hit the half way point and KNEW I was gonna snap it, so I installed without the spring.
I think on some of the UG inner diameter is smaller, so spring makes it too thick for the gas tube.
