So I plan to get a ruger American ranch rifle in 300 aac I like the options and I already shoot .223 out of my wife's savage axis and my ar pistol but I was looking into marking it a left handed version by buying the left handed bolt separate and seeing if I could use it in the right handed I was going to try this in my wife's savage because the bolt you can twist the head so it would still eject the round so anyone left handed tried this before? I know they have left handed versions but not in 300 and that one alreadh has a threaded barrel.

You're talking about just changing the bolt to left hand? If so, the receiver would have to be changed.

This is a Ranch 5.56. I don't see anyway in which you are talking!

My guess is no. They are engineered to be right or left. Bottom up.

Since I have the gun out today, here are some closeup pics.

You can see in these pics how much the receiver is cut in for the bolt.

Plus how far down into the receiver the bolt goes.

Does 300blk use the same bolt as 223?

If so, I would think you would have a better chance going with a lefty 223 and change the barrel, possibly the magazine.

That was my question, if 300blk uses the same 223 bolt then I would say OP go with a lefty 223 and rebarrel for 300blk.
I did read and article a while ago that they would be offering 300 BLK in LH as well. Wonder when.

OP, maybe call up Ruger and see if they will put one of those 300 barrels on a LH receiver for you?

Only problem is they won't sell direct to consumer!:cautious: I just called them the other day about a special request for a 10/22. Now if he picked up a lefty 223 he might be able to sweet talk them into changing it out, if he sent it in!
