Ibneed a scope for my 10/22. It will be used for target shooting and a little small game hunting. I can't decide on magnification though. Will be used for 100 yards or less. I'd like to keep it around $100-120.

I do want target turrets though.
So what's some suggestions?

Why the need for target turrets at 100 yds or less. Serious question....

I would pick a quality rimfire scope as the parallax is set at 50 yards. Centerfire scopes the parallax is set at 100 yards.

A little more than you were wanting, but if you shot our FV-SR, it has this scope on it. Its a great little scope, and the BDC seems to work well

Under 100 yards I wouldn't don much more than 3x or 4x

You don't need target turrets either for that distance.

I would say something like a mueller 1x4 quick shot

Meh I beg to differ. Depends what hes shooting. Under a hundred but trying to neck shot a squirrel isnt as easy on 3x zoom. Im not exactly sure how far im shooting but I take out squirrels in my yard that are prob 25-50 yards out and I like my zoom on about 5x at that range. That way I can zoom right in on his little face and if I miss a tiny bit its still gonna kill him quick. Just my 2 cents. I like 3-9x zoom for 22lr.

For small game, squirrel and such I would like a 1-4 or 2-7 for sure. Anything too powerful and you'll be searching for the squirrel more than anything. Get something quick that you can zoom in a little if you have a longer shot.

Nothing beats a good ear and iron sight really. Never should be shooting more the 100 ft at a squirrel. Helll, I killed 4 in one hour with a Crossman 760 pellet rifle when I was a teenager. I problem couldn't hit one at 25ft with irons due to my eyesight now unless it was a scatter gun!

I would say talk to @Mac11FA about a black spider 1-4, but I got dibs on it. I'll let you know how it does.

To get the hang of them. I plan on using the .22 to get fundamentals down before I spend a bunch on a centerfire precision rifle
Makes sense. Good opportunity to simulate longer range bullet drop.

I used to think I needed to be that precise, but now I don't use magnification and after a few shots you adapt and get shots off quicker IMO. I'm using a vortex strike fire and head shots are no problem up to say 60-70 yards. At around 80-100 I can generally put a bullet in the area of the upper or lower half of the squirel if it's standing up.
