Scar 16 with 200,000 rounds through it with only 1 barrel replacement.....

Doesnt sound even in the ballpark of right. Chrome lining lasts what 20K ish?

Army service rifles last about 40-50k ish... Before the barrel needs to be replaced. I dont see how you can get 100,000 rounds out of a barrel... Maybe 75k but not 100,000 rounds.

My YouTube threshold is about 90 seconds......unless it's a clip from Squidbillies or Archer.

Hell, there's a YouTube video of me teaching a class that's about 1hr 42mins long. It's been on there for several years, I've never watched more than 3 minutes of it.

I occasionally watch Mr. Clean's videos...but I'm calling shennanigans on this one. First off, the SCAR numbers? There's no way. Two hundred thousand rounds and only a barrel swap? Sorry, I just don't buy it.

Also, he repeatedly said that several of their rifles get fired 30,000 rounds per week. They are open seven days a week for eleven hours each day. For a rifle to be fired 30,000 times in a week, it would need 400 rounds through it each and every hour of each and every day that the store was open. That's roughly thirteen mags an hour, or one mag every 4.5 minutes...every day, all day. Again, sorry, but I just don't buy it.
Nevermind, he said 30K/month.

And one last thing....the only failure on the AR's that they see are bolt sheer and ejectors? Not a single gas tube failure...surely at 30,000 rounds a week, somebody melted a gas tube before the locking lugs sheered, no?

I'll freely admit, I've never even heard of a gas tube melting.

Claims of extreme round counts on ARs without failure are just as plausible as extreme round counts on 1911s without failure. (Not at all, that's a fucking dream)
Glocks, HKs, and AKs, yes, proven many times.

Yeah thats what I thought. Unless the Scar barrels are not chrome lined but something that lasts longer perhaps?

I thought he said 30k a MONTH... That's still a lot of rounds, Just what they spend on ammo has to be staggering.

Bullshit they will all fail... The HK's even more so.

The 249's are full auto only, they have chromed lined barrels, (just like the M4's and M16's) and they last about as long as the M16's... And thats about 40-50k.

Yeah I assumed so, since the science of chrome lining is obviously no different on a Scar than an AR barrel... Seemed a bit exaggerated to me.

What dos one consider to be an "extreme round count" test?

For instance, at the end of 1910 the US military tested the Colt 1911 against several other competitors. 6,000 rounds were fired from a single pistol over the course of two days. When the gun began to grow hot, it was simply immersed in water to cool it. The 1911 passed with no reported malfunctions.

The MARSOC testing that led to their choice of the current Colt MARSOC was quite a bit more rigorous than that, with a higher round count. Passed with flying colors.

I've participated in some strenuous tests of various AR systems, as well as many other platforms like the HK 416, FN SCAR, Steyr AUG, various SIG's, and others. The modern AR from a quality company is as reliable as any other system on the market.

"The modern AR from a quality company"
...so exclude about 90% of them which are half ass basement jobs with junk parts and then the following is true:
"is as reliable as any other system on the market"
Sure, I agree with that.

Yeah, he definitely did say "a month." Sorry about that.

But the "200,000 through a SCAR16 with only a barrel swap?" I don't believe that for a second.

"Melting" is a strong word. I've seen them deform due to rapid and sustained over heating causing the rifle to malfunction; people who don't know how to run a F/A rifle and just dumping mag after mag through them, which I would imagine is a large majority of their customer base.

Even if a customer mag dumped, I can hardly seever them going over 500 rds at a time just because of the ammo cost. This would mean the guns would have a cool down period in between unless it stayed on the firing line all day and consecutive customers were shooting it. I counderstand not even see myself shooting 10,000 rds in one year out of any of my firearms.
