Has anyone ever used the textured deck paint for the floor boards of their deck? It's not my fave in comparison to stain, but this deck is 20 years old and wasn't taken care of te last 8 years before we bought the house. Last year I sanded, scrubbed, power washed, and stained / sealed it and it looked much better. However there are some boards that will need to be replaced in the next year or two. To get a few more years out of them, I was thinking about trying the textured deck paint before eventually replacing the floor boards.

If it's in direct sunlight there's not a lot you can do. The sun has destroyed my deck no matter what I stained it with.

Home depot has that Rustoleum Restore 10x and 4x. I used the 10x on the wood deck of my car hauler trailer about 2 years ago. I also just picked up another gallon today to do the deck boards on the ramp to my storage shed. It works great and has held up very well. The 10x is all I've used and it has a texture comparable to a Rhino bed liner. I used the texture roller they sell for the stuff, but I think you can use a smoother roller or thin the material a bit for a smoother texture. If I was going to do a deck where we might be running around bare foot, I'd probably try the 4x. I used one of their 3 gallon pails to get one good coat on an 18' X 7' trailer deck, so it doesn't go very far, but it's THICK. It really will fill splits, nail holes and hold down splinters. If I had a rough old deck that I just couldn't or did't want to replace, I'd use the stuff in a heart beat.

I've heard of poor performance of the product (check YouTube) where many users have liked it originally hit after a few months it peels up in sheets.

I don't know about all that. People with bad experiences are generally the loudest people on the internet. Being in the refinish business my whole life, if something peels it's usually because it wasn't prepped right.
I sprayed some cleaner on the wood and pressure washed it really thoroughly. My trailer sits out in the weather as much as a deck does. Aside from driving cars on and off of it, I've hauled pallets of sod, air compressors and lumber. The only time it's ever been damaged is when I picked up a 53 Ford pickup with flat tires and the wheels half buried in the dirt. My 8500lb winch wouldn't pull it up, so I dragged with the winch while another guy pushed with a bobcat. I was amazed at how the stuff held up to the abuse of a truck being dragged on rusty rims that wouldn't turn. The Restore on the deck holds up better that the paint on the steel. By a long shot.

They still have to caulk everything, paint and hang gutters, but it is coming along nicely.

@NWS how the overhaul go?

It's done. Here are some pictures of it before they got the gutters on and the porch painted. The funny thing is we are refinancing to roll the construction loan into our mortgage. The house actually appraised for 2000 less than it did before we put 30 grand into it. LOL. Fucking foreclosures ruining my home value.

That's about my luck. I build a shed out back a few years ago and mine went down 2-3k. Guess they didn't like it? Lol

Looks good; I need to find a vendor to replace my front door / casement + 2 side windows & some vinyl siding. I'm just scared that I'll contract some shitty contractor

My sister used Nehemiah construction on her exterior upgrade and they were thrilled. We used the siding doctor and I would never recommend them to anyone.

I did my back door replacement myself; wasn't too hard to get plumb (standard door); but the front door has 2 small side windows built into to both sides of the casement; I haven't even tried to find a replacement yet, let alone to figure out how many people it will take to do it.

I don't want to sound elitist when I say this, but I just can't stand the thought of someone else working on my house if I can actually do it myself (and with the help of a buddy or 2)........ I will also be the first to say "fuck it" and let a professional do it if all I'm going to do is mess it up further.
