I own a Sig 1911 .22 and I love it. I shoot it a lot, so much so that the other .22's rarely get used. My only complaint is that the finish is showing quite a bit of wear and it appears to be little more than high test paint. I am considering some kind of after market coating for it. So here are my questions.

1. Am I crazy to consider some type of coating on a plinker?
2. What would you recommend for a more durable coating that wouldn't break the bank?

Thanks.

I used the Dura Coat from Brownells. Simple to use and does a tough coat, especially on slides. Either product should do a fine job. Go ahead Bigdog, do it!

BDD........Check this out.... :p

Brownells Spray-on Finish ALUMA-HYDE® II AIR DRY EPOXY FINISH......

That sounds similar to what is on it. I believe the Sig website shows it as PTFE.

Mukwah, did you bake yours or just prep and spray? You may have covered that in your other thread but I don't remember.

Just prep and spray. I use the shake and spray kit that has everything you need in it.
