lol, those Redfield and Burris scopes have been there for a century.

And are probably better quality than more expensive scopes made today!
Not even close. Optics have improved leaps and bounds. My dad has an old Redfield Illuminator from the early 80's. It was $450 back then, and doesn't hold a candle to a Nikon Prostaff.

Manufacturing quality. I understand the optics have gotten better. I just think they were made a little better back then.

I don't think so man. CNC machining has improved quality a lot, especially in optics where precision fitting of lenses is required.
