Posting information from other sources

When a forum member posts information from all or a part of a copyrighted document or a web page, the post can potentially be in violation of intellectual property rights under the copyright laws of the United States. Thus, the GunTalkForums management is establishing some simple rules which are easy to understand and for moderators to enforce.

It is the responsibility of all members to adhere to these rules.

1) Certain types of posts are not acceptable on the GunTalkForums. These include posts with "news" articles that are essentially sensational in nature including articles citing incidents of gun violence while not supporting the GunTalkForums mission such as Second Amendment rights, concealed carry or legal rights, etc.. The GunTalkForums moderators are the sole judge as to what material is or is not suitable for posting.

2) When posting a reference to any material from a web site other than the Gun Talk Forums:
• Include a link to the original material's web site.
• DO NOT copy/paste any of the original material, including text and/or images (other than a headline if desired).
• Posting a short summary of the material, using the poster's own words, is suggested.

3) When posting any material taken directly from email messages or printed documents:
• Obtain the written permission of the author or source of the document to publish the material.
• Document the source of the information, and the permission, given within the post containing the material.
• Publish only that material for which specific permission to do so has been obtained.
• A good alternative to posting copyrighted material would be to simply post a summary, written in the poster's own words.

Thanks.
