does anyone share in the concept of having in their GHB a survival kit? like a stand alone part to the bag itself.

i have one that comes out of my ghb and gets attached to my belt.

i use a:
Maxpedition Janus Pack
with Grimloc clips to attach to belt loops
20ish feet of 550 cord
mylar blanket
cheapy rain poncho
water purification tabs
a couple of sharpies of different colors
smiths knife sharpener
one of the military can openers
altoids tin of fire starting material (vaseline covered cotton balls, matches, flint and steel)
Multi tool (i have a leatherman sidekick... may move to a wave)
one other altoid tin. this is the survival kit really.. the rest is just comfort stuff.

this altoids tin is wrapped in electrical tape to seal it up as best as possible.
i have aluminum foil, some moleskin and a small signal mirror rubber banded to the outside.
inside has a couple of different sized fish hooks
match striker
matches
gauze pads (2)
band aids
anti - diahreal meds (several different varieties [pepto, anti diareaha, antacids])
floral wire
fishing line
some small sinkers (or use a washer)
small lighter, wrapped in about 10feet of dental floss
razor blade
framing nail
needle with an eye large enough for the dental floss
tweezers
i will put up pics or pm them too you if you want more details about this set up. or any other set up i have.

I stuff cotton and vasoline in a straw and seal the ends with a lighter to keep em water tight. Then they just stay in my tin if I need them. If the tin gets wet at least those items won't.
