A friend called me yesterday and said that a local used sporting goods sale store had a Jennings 22LR semi-automatic I might want to look at.

This afternoon I went over and it was a Jennings Model J-22 in .22 LR Caliber. The wooden grips are scuffed up; she’d been used for pocket carry and had paid her dues. She functioned well, but was a bit dirty from her last range trip. Not a problem, I’ll clean her up.

Back in the 90’s if you were looking for a $49.00 pocket pistol or something for a Ladies Purse these were pretty popular. So I gave the guy $49.00 dollars for it.

So I have the Jennings Model J-22 in .22LR, a Raven Model MP-25, in 25 ACP. (Designed and manufactured by Jennings,.finally a Cobra CA 380. A trio of what some folks called Saturday Night Specials.

If I make it to the range this week, maybe she will get an outing. There is a Colt- Walther Government Model 1911 1a .22Lr and a Ruger Standard .22LR on the “to do” list.

Interesting video on the J-22. Explains origin, some history, a quick field strip and some soda cans get plinked. I've done both the Raven and the Cobra with a complete disassembly of the first. I popped the J-22 apart and it's nasty inside. Probably hasn't been cleaned for a decade of two, it's got a low serial number 0350XX who knows? J-22s were made from 1974 to 2004, when Bryco filed bankruptcy.
