I was quoted 6mb

We had DSL for 2 years here in metro Atlanta. We were quoted 6MB speed and never did get that high. We probably averaged around 4MB. DSL might not provide enough bandwidth if you will be connecting multiple devices at the same time. It will bog down.

Satellite internet is roughly the equivalent of dial-up.

Turns out that the last pole carrying coaxial is directly behind my cabin so I'm getting broadband. That was a pleasant surprise.

Go with DSL. I had it in a rural area where I had the same Internet options. The omly issue is with ATT they limit you to 250 GB a month and charge for 50 GB blocks if you go over. That being said the bill was only 50$ a month and 10$ per 50GB you went over. I was using WiFi router with 3 PCS and Roku box streaming TV and rarely went over unless my son was downloading extra data.
