    Thinking about buying an AK

The gun shop there is open all the time and their selection isn't bad. I went to the last shoot there and there were not many tables with AK's. a few people carrying them for a face to face sale but people are pretty proud of their AK's these days so you'll have to be alert for a deal. Buds has...

    Thinking about buying an AK

I believe Saiga is Izhmash's line of semi-auto "sporting" rifles and shotguns so the term actually applies to both. In fact, my Arsenal (Izhmash) AK has Saiga stamped on it as well. A good friend has a Saiga 12 with an Aimpoint H1 on it and with slugs or buck in his drum it's down right...

    Thinking about buying an AK

I like both. I seem to have more fun shooting AK's. Certainly cheaper ammo. I'll be adding an AK74 in the future. I've taken hogs with all 3 without issue. They may run an extra second or 2 when hit with the 5.56 or 5.45 then if hit by the 7.62 but they still die pretty quick.

    What are you carrying today?

A S&W 442 with some wadcutters. Let me know if you've got a line on some 135gr short barrel Gold Dots please.

    Scouting for .22LR ammo...

Scouting for .22LR ammo... The range at Cherry Creek State Park had a 4 box limit yesterday on standard and high velocity CCI. It was around $3.75 a box.

    My carry gun for summertime

I wandered into Buds Gun Shop today and they had a bunch of no-lock 442's so I finally picked one up. $340. Love it. I forgot to ask what the regular price was but if you're looking for a lock or no-lock 442/642, BGS has both in stock.

    Double bass

almost the first thing that came to my mind when I read the title. I thought how strange it was to have a thread about Neil Peart in this forum.

    My carry gun for summertime

I'm not a fan of stainless but the Black 442's are hard to find. I found this one online for just under $5 hundred this morning. A bit pricey compared to the last time i saw one though. Not sure if its a no-lock model or not...

    7.62x39

I found some Tula 7.62 at a Walmart in Centennial Colorado last week but their limit was 3 boxes and not of the same type. First I've seen that. Thankfully they had some brassmaxx 40 and privi so I didn't leave empty handed.

    Gunpowder residue

The funny thing is there's almost no answer you can give that they can act on. "I put it on my corn flakes" is my answer.

Debunking a couple of myths - new blog posts

I don't like the magazine disconnect but its purely a personal preference not based on whatever "myth" you're talking about. I see no myth to debunk. All safety mechanisms serve a purpose. Legal, practical, or both. There's no way to rationally argue that. It's the trade offs that people are...

Range trip PSA M4A1- Savage- Rossi- Marlin rifles

Is the Axis like the Savage 111? I've been looking for a new heavy hitter for a fall elk hunt.

Range trip PSA M4A1- Savage- Rossi- Marlin rifles

Doesn't magnifier mount allow you to mount it over your buis? I'd hate having my optic that far forward. Love the PSA and Aimpiont.

    Tapco magazines for Mini-14 ???

I've used a half dozen of them for a couple of years now pretty extensively without problems. AK size though. they've always worked. they don't lock up very tight (wobble quite a bit) but that doesn't seem to affect reliability. not sure if any of that carries over to the mini 14.

    Lilac Lady

while mine has been reliable, some of my friends have had issues with their PF9's. seems to be hit or miss. I think the LC9 has a much nicer trigger out of the box but the PF9 wears in nicely with use. it's a good option for those who'd rather not have a mag disconnect, external safety, and LCI...

Ok, I guess I'm not the only one

I generally agree with most if his reviews. He can be a little corny but who isn't I suppose. He's pretty long winded though. He'll never pass up a chance to take 10 minutes to give you 5 minutes of info. He seems to really try to be objective in his reviews which is often rare on the web. And...
