Ar15 Pistols....do They Really Make Sense?

With the advent of the Sig arm brace AR15 pistols are all the rage. My question to everyone, in what scenario do you really believe an AR pistol in your vehicle (assuming that's why you have one, to carry loaded in your vehicle as it IS a pistol) would be useful or necessary? I know...

    Best ammo for your spr?

I've been playing around with different types of ammo for my DD MK12 SPR. I've run everything from 69gr FGMM, 77gr FGMM, 75gr Hornady Superformance Match .223, 75gr Hornady TAP, and CBC 77gr OTM. Oddly enough, the CBC 77gr OTM (clone of the Black Hills mk262 Mod 0 I believe) is the cheapest...

To Carry A Backup Or Not To?

It depends for me. I do maybe 60% of the time. When I do, it is my G42.

    Glock Generation 5 News

It's a pretty decent difference in my opinion. Primary ones for me were the grip and mag release. All Gen 4 Glocks with no backstrap are the equivalent of the older SF (short frame) models. Shorter distance from the trigger face to the back of the grip. The flatter magazine release and...

    Glock Generation 5 News

A good friend of mine is a full time Glock Master Trainer and hasn't even hinted at a Gen 5 at this point. I have 4 different Gen 4 guns and absolutely love them! I hated how a Glock felt in my hands until I picked up a Gen 4. It's worth getting now. Good Luck!

    Best price for target ammo

I have shot several hundred rounds of Perfect 115gr 9mm bought from Walmart at $9.78/box with no issues. Runs great for me. I haven't used their rifle ammo but would definitely give it a try. PSA was running a sale on Federal Champion 115gr 9mm, but shipping always hurts. My go to stockpile...

    Ohio Concealed Carry Information

Buckeye Firearms Association does a pretty decent job on their site. Another good one is handgunlaws.us I find that handgunlaws.is can be a little better about updating specific state information.

    Teach me about reloading..

Save yourself alot of tears and buy a Dillon press. I've been using the square deal for 10 years. You can spend the money for a 550, 650, or even 1050 Super depending on what you plan to do and expected volume output. Join the Brian Enos forum. More reloading knowledge there than one could ever...

    Looking For Ar Building Advice

Gotta decide the purpose of the rifle first. That will determine certain parts you'll want. Varmit rifle? Super simple? Tactical? SPR? Once you know you can start to plan. Minimum is a receiver vise block for upper and lower. Good punch set. Barrel nut wrench (some rail systems have...

    Rifle Cleaning/maintainence Question?

The key areas are the star chamber, gas rings, and extractor. Make sure you clean out the bolt recess in the carrier and lube the cam pin as well. Of course you'll clean the bore like any other firearm. The CAT M4 tool and some lube will keep the gun running. I use FrogLube but Slip 2000 is good...

Do You Treat Your Rifles Rough?

It's a tool. I don't throw my hammer in the mud, but don't cry when it gets scratched or dirty either. Same for my rifles (primarily AR's). There is more than a little black sharpie covering scratches on my rifles. I run my rifles hard as an instructor, but a quality one will still perform! The...

Do You Use A Laser On Your Handgun

They have their upsides. While increasing the percieved motion the the gun, they are by far the most effective when you are forced to shoot from an unconventional position or potentially injured and cannot obtain a good sight picture. Friend, pilice officer, and instructor Greg Ellifritz did a...

Do You Use Any Sights On Your Hand Guns

I used to run an XD9 with the slide milled for a Leupold Deltapoint with cowitnessed irons (work done by Bowie Tactical Concepts). It worked great! It takes a while to get used to it as it gives the appearance of magnifying the wabble of the gun, even though the gun isn't moving any more than...
