    ready to go

Skip is right on with his figures. I zero 5.56 at 50 yds and 2nd zero is about 225 yds with a max of 2" high mid-way. I get my info from a ballistics calculator on Handloads.com. I've checked figures for all my rifles from .177 pellet to 7.62x54r and determine my best zero for each caliber. I...

    AR Mags

I have a few P-mags and a half dozen of the aluminum (used) mags.....30 rounders, they all work. The P-mags were bought a while back, cost about $12 for window mags. They've gone up a little since then. The used aluminum ones came from a local shop and cost me $5 per. I took them apart and...

    WM. Ammo

I love it when I find Perfecta .223 ammo at the couple of Walmarts in my neck of the woods. It runs about 30cents a round compared to around 45cents for American Eagle (Federal) 5.56. I also grab the 9mm Perfecta, as it is about 20cents a round. The stuff shoots well, maybe a bit hot, and has...

    AR 15

Nice rifle, Rich. You did well in my opinion. I put a 1-4x24 Bushnell on mine. I like it a lot and it works well for mid-range shooting. I have my mount (looks like yours) on the opposite way. Not sure if there is a right or wrong way. Your red dot probably needs a riser to get it up to where...

    Welcome Vepr to GTF.

    Best OWB holster?

Very nice holster, Skip. How's the retention on it? Looks like the trigger portion of the holster would lock it in fairly well.

    Cleaners and Lubes

Thanks Sarge. That's what I've been doing with regards to lube. I have been using Barricade in the bore after cleaning, and also on the exterior. I'm going to order some Eezox soon to replace the Barricade in my lineup.

    Cleaners and Lubes

Thanks Pops! My guns are also well cared-for. I don't hate cleaning my guns, so they are never at risk of rust or neglect (except for a carry gun slide that tries to rust). But I do appreciate "efficiency with results" regarding my maintenance. Any cleaner and any lube are better than...

    Cleaners and Lubes

Thanks for the link, Pops. Sounds like a do-all. I believe that I'll have to track some down. Barricade is similar, I think, in that the product claims to cover all the bases. Do you guys think these products may be a little light/thin for a semi-auto slide or some AR15 parts?

    Cleaners and Lubes

LWS-- I'm impressed with the test results of Eezox concerning rust protection, but am not familiar with the product. Do you use it for everything, cleaner-lube-protection? If so, that would simplify things a bit.

    Cleaners and Lubes

I use whatever is at hand.....odorless mineral spirits or WD-40. They work well as cleaners. Rem oil for lube, and I like to finish up with Birchwood Casey's Barricade for rust prevention. I've always wanted to try Eezox, but it's not available locally. I'll probably order some online at some...

    Brand preference

I do like my Remingtons and Rugers, but don't buy just for the brand. I like reliable, affordable guns. I research my purchases before I buy to avoid problems, and that has worked out well for me. I'm not interested in listing my guns, but have a nice mix of manufacturers.
