Gun Catharsis, or: How I learned to like plastic

Since we are all new here some of you may not know that I am at heart a 1911 guy. I don't care for Glocks at all. Not because I don't think they are excellent tools; I just have no attachment to them and can't shoot them worth crap. I have some very expensive 1911s that I would trust unquestionable...but even they are prone to breakages at some point. I have carried a 1911 since I can remember but have always been looking for a plastic fantastic that might sway my decision on a carry gun.

I think I have finally found it. Well, more like found a brand. I bought an HK HK45 a little while ago and have put around 600 rounds through it. The ergos are phenomenal, the capacity is slightly higher, and most importantly it is boringly reliable and surprisingly accurate. It took a small adjustment from how I learned to shoot 1911s to run the HK45 to the best of my current abilities.

I think I am now switching from carrying a 1911 to carrying an HK45. I might even go full HKtard and get an HK45C. I'll still have my pretty 1911s...and will carry them on occasion.

I just wanted to make my coming out public to everyone. I am a believer in plastic.

But for carry I hate how they weigh down my belt.(I already stress my belts since I got a big ass)

But i would really like to try an HK gun, especially the vp9(plus they have threaded barrels for them)

I just picked up a VP9 for the wife the other day. Haven't shot it yet.

That's my one big gripe about the HK45...it's heavier loaded than my Colt LW XSE. It's also really bulky, but that might be helped quite a bit by a new holster. The one I have now just doesn't fit me well.

I also want a 9mm 1911, it is the softest shooting gun I've shot.

It is already. Just the way it feels is amazing. I got the LE with the Tru-glos

Yeah, that's the one I got. At 7 yards it's a one hole shooter, probably shoots as well as my SP-01, and has a better trigger.

Seeing as how it would cost me about 5 grand to replace all my Glock mags with HK mags, yeah I would be losing a bunch.

HK mags are what...25% more than what Glock mags are?

I wouldn't say for someone as devoted to Glock as you to make the switch...Believe me, I wish I liked Glocks. I'd spend a lot less money!

I'm not super devoted to Glock. I only have 2 and the 23 I EDC I only have 1 mag for. I have about 30 mags for my 19 though, and figure at best they would only bring about 20 bucks when selling them, so 600 cash out of my 19 mags.

How much would 30 HK mags cost me?

I pick them up in trades all the time. I am not sure I have ever bought a Glock mag. I used to do the same thing with 1911 mags. I have 1911 mags freaking everywhere. Hell, I have a 47D sitting here on my desk loaded with 230gr HST

Last time I was there they had a shit ton of them for about 450. Wishing I had picked up one.
