Back when my sister and brother-in-law got engaged and were planning their wedding my parents told them that they had a $20k budget. My dad got drunk one night and was fucking with my brother-in-law because he knows he's a cheap ass. He told them that whatever they didn't use on the wedding he'd let them have the rest in cash. He was obviously joking, everyone who knows my dad knew better than that...except my brother-in-law. He was trying to cut costs wherever possible when they were planning everything. My sister was getting pretty pissed and finally asked him why he was trying to cut costs and he told her "your dad said that we could have whatever was left that we didn't spend on the wedding." My sister had to break the news to him that my dad was fucking with him. Everyone thought it was fucking hilarious except my dumbass brother-in-law. My dad still laughs about the fact that if my sister didn't say anything their $20k wedding would have only cost him $5k if it was up to my sisters dumbass husband.

Pretty sure she can be convinced. We really don’t want to spend crazy money on a wedding so from the get go, our plan was the courthouse. She isn’t one to want to be in a dress and all that stuff anyways.

You can pay 60ish extra bucks to have your passport expedited. Will take less than a month.

Shemp, you don't use usaa ? They've always been the best rates for me. One exception was when I had more cars than drivers, but otherwise, they've always been cheapest

I am wanting to say hers took right around 3ish weeks to get a few months ago. I don’t know if she paid the extra though. I need to go ahead and set up an appointment at the PO for January.

Just odd how it all works. The offending persons insurance wants to total my sister's car but all that is wrong with it is broken rear bumper. It's an older civic that runs perfectly fine. They are trying to tell her either take the $1800 pay our to total it or drop the claim and fix it on her own dime.

I find it insane the insurance companies are the arbiters of totaling a car.

Yup. If they total it then they take it away. If you don't want it totaled then you pay out of pocket to fix it. It's a shitty situation. Either you're low balled and have no car or they get away Scott free and you are monetarily screwed
