I saw a couple at a gun store today. I don't know anything about them except that they look good.

Their cheaper guns are made in the Phillipines...just like RIA.
Don't know if the 9mm guns are....

Their 45s are good guns though I don't personally care for them.

Thought only the Spartan(bottom of the line) was an Armscor cast? Ive owned the Spartan and a Ranger and the Ranger was top notch.

I had a STI Guardian that was one of the best shooting 1911's I have ever owned. Wish I had never traded that bastard

If you want some fun, build it yourself ... I built my own in my garage with basic hand tools .... I had to buy some parts already done ...but I had my hand in all parts of it. Complete with custom serial number.

Never owned one but that all black with the threaded barrel is pretty hot.

Barrel interchangability is based on a few things, what ramp cut it has, some don't have any ramp and the ramp is in the frame. It also depends on the breach face of the slide.

A 9mm slide is used for 38 super ...
40 has their own slide
45 has its own slide

If the barrel is ramped is it a Para ramp or a Wilson ramp.

My slide is 9mm and my frame is cut for a Wilson ramp.

Swapping a 1911/2011 barrel is not as easy as a Glock barrel.

STI makes a good 1911, but they are more known for their 2011's. An STI Perfect 10 is my dream gun.

Yes, but may mot be perfect and may require minor fitting.

Yeah, minor...lol

I have seen some parts that needs alot more than minor work. Mainly triggers/beaver tail safeties. Of course, many get sold as "drop ins", but are far from that.

BTW, I only opened this thread because I drive a Subaru STI. 100% NOT related to these pistols.

9mm 1911's, especially with subs, shoot amazingly smooth and quiet.
Dobbs threaded an RIA 9mm for me

Have you tried shooting cast lead 147's thru a cleanable can? I am finding those projectiles for about 7c each. That works out to about $5.50 a box for subsonic 9mm.
