I started messing with the fcp-sr today. Well the scope I purchased has the vortex leveling bubble. The scope rings that I have are the low profile mount style. So I am at crossroads to either lose the leveling bubble or go with a higher mount rings.

Depends on if you use the leveling bubble or not. I picked up a PEPR mount for the BSO scope for the AR47 and never been happier!

Gotta pic of it. Do you use the level bubble. Will that high scope ring change the comb so you'll need a higher cheek pad on the stock.

@Mac11FA @Red Dawn

I have just finally got around to mounting the scope for the first time. So I am not sure if I will really use the leveling bubble or not.

Playing around with it sitting in the bottom part of the rings it seems to have the proper amount of comb to it. It would be hard to tell without pulling the level off and actually mounting the scope, which I will probably do just to see.

I thought the level would be for cant lt to rt for shooting way out there. However I remember thinking about this when we did that competition in Taylorsville holding rifles at a 90 deg to hit targets remember. The only thing that mattered then was bullet drop not barrel cant it was 22lr and only 100yds too btw

I remember this day well. There was a major correction factor for shooting like that.

The scope was set at 100yds so the 25" drop just went lt so you had to aim rt side of target to make the hit. That was a good competition

@Cudruln is the rail you're attaching rings to a 20 MOA. You may need that room to adjust at greater distances too.

Personally, I'd skip the level bubble to keep the scope mounted closer to the action. There are other level bubbles out there that you can use, if you have to have one. I don't use one and I regularly shoot out to 1,000yds +.

When you say "medium" height rings, exactly what height are you looking for? Every scope ring manufacturer has a different definition of "medium". For instance, Leupold Mk4 Medium rings have a saddle height of .249", but Talley Tactical Medium rings have a saddle height of .684".

You could trade the level for one 33rd Glock mag. Just saying.

This is what I am heavily leaning towards. If I did decide to go with a scope level they do make a low profile one.

I was going to say that I think I may have some cheap medium height rings in the tool box- cheap as in they came from wal-mart and were in a blister pack. Probably on clearance, because about 10 years ago I bought six or eight packages for really cheap.

Mostly used on .22's over the years.
