Well I've got over a thousand rounds of ammo I've got the scope bore sighted. Now all I need to do is get to the range.

Well I made it to the range. I ran 3 mags of 30 rounds each down range. Had to adjust to scoop up a little bit higher. The new Colt ran flawlessly. Here the targets I shot with it.

Then I ran 16 shots off hand.

Then I buckled down to see what I could do with off hand 30 rounds.

Then I ran another 30 round mag shooting as fast as I could pull the trigger.

Rich, depending on the range that you want to use your AR, I suggest that you might want to zero the scope tightly at 50 yards. By doing a 50-yard zero, all hits from zero to 250 yards or so will be within a few inches of the aiming point. The following list is the approximate errors for XM193 ammo in an M16:

5 yds -2.4"
10 yds -2.1"
25 yds -1.2"
50 yds 0.0"
100 yds +1.6"
150 yds +2.1"
200 yds +1.1"
225 yds 0.0"
250 yds -1.6"

Thank you skip.
That is some good information that I really needed. With that information and looking at my targets looks like I should be pretty close to that. I do not like indoor ranges even for pistols it's too close.

I was thinking wrong on the point of impact I should be hitting low not high at close range. I was having a Old Timers moments.

Skip is right on with his figures. I zero 5.56 at 50 yds and 2nd zero is about 225 yds with a max of 2" high mid-way. I get my info from a ballistics calculator on Handloads.com. I've checked figures for all my rifles from .177 pellet to 7.62x54r and determine my best zero for each caliber. I used that info to help set up my sons .270 for hunting so that he knows the effective/accurate range of the type of rounds he's using.
