Have recently been fascinated by the 1911 Platform, and having never owned one, I made the plunge. I found at my LGS, which surprised me due to his prices being high, a brand new Metro Arms American Classic II Commander for under $500. I had been doing a lot of research, and for a beginner 1911, this model kept coming up with rave reviews, so it came home with me. It had a little trouble feeding JHP's at first, but I replaced the standard 18 lb. guiderod spring with a Wolff 18 lb. guiderod spring, and she cycles much better now. I finally realize what all the fuss is about the 1911 platform, an absolutely gorgeous weapon, providing great accuracy & fun! I did replace the original grips with the Double Diamond Slim Grips in Cocobolo. Her she is. Yogi 8)

Way to go Yog; that's a beaut! You will be glad you got it every single day from here on! Some 230 gr. Goldies or Ranger-T's will max out that bad little boy!

Here is the bad news. I already have my eye on a third 1911. They are habit forming. That is a very nice first (of many) 1911's.

;D ;D ;D

Thx everyone for the kind words. I'm really thrilled about this 1911 & can't wait to plan for my next one. A different LGS had an SR1911, but I really wanted a Commander for my first one. BTW, the SR1911 was gone the next weekend. Who knows, I want my next 1911 to be a chromed model, maybe an SR1911 is in the cards. There are so many very nice ones to choose from, this will be a hard decision. I've really become mesmerized by the 1911 platform, wish I hadn't waited so long. Thx again & I'll keep you updated on the next range trip. Yogi 8)

The only one I've seen was at a gun show about a year ago. And they wanted 800 dollars for it firm.

Nice find, great price! It will not be your last 1911.
Thank you Sir...I tend to agree with your statement! Another 1911 is definitely in my future. Yogi 8)

BTW, the price on the SR1911 I saw was $699.00. Not sure, but that sounds like a fair price!
