Since I got into AKs a whole 1 month ago I have wanted an AK103/4/5 clone. I just love the look of the integrated front sight and gas block...very reminiscent of the Galil and Valmet dream guns. I got a great deal on an Arsenal SLR104FR and decided to use that as the basis for my clone. Arsenal doesn't seem to make the SLR104CR which is the factory option so I had to source my own Bulgarian FSB/GB combo. As any of you with AKs know replacing the gas.block is a relatively easy job IF you have the tools to do it. If not it's darn near impossible as it requires a 10 ton press, which I don't have.

The boys over at Dobbs Defense came to the rescue and we're able to get my old front sight and gas block pressed off and the new gas block pressed on without damaging or scratching the Arsenal finish. They did an excellent job and it looks factory, which is the highest compliment I could give. I highly recommend them for any AK or general gunsmith work you might need, but I am biased.

I will soon be filing my tac stamp to SBR it and put either a CL krink cone or the 4 piece Bulgarian muzzle device on it. For right now it has an Arsenal barrel shroud but I think it looks good.

Anyway, pics!

I like it just the way it is... I would not change a thing.

I would but that barrel shroud is a solid chunk of metal...it probably adds 3/4 pound to the front of the gun...i need to SBR it so I can put the traditional Krink cone on it and make it as lite as it should be..

Have you shot it yet? I wounder what kind of groups it will get as it sits, vs when you SBR it. And how much dose it weigh as it sits?

I haven't shot it yet and I'm not sure when I'll be able to. The only range I can shoot it that I know about is way down in Stockbridge. I might give that outdoor range near Emerson a try but I hear the guy that runs it is a real dick. The barrel would only get chopped by 4 inches, I wouldn't think groups would open up much.

As far as weight goes I can weigh it when I get home with and without the shroud. Once it's SBR it would weigh a couple ounces less...but not much.

If you have any civilian 5.45 ammo, take it to Ga. Firing line, and shoot it on the rifle side, its 75 feet and thats sort of close to 25 meters (82 feet) I have army 25 meter zero targets, if you want to use them, my house is 5 minuets away from Ga firing line.

I do have some Wolf 5.45...but I thought they didn't allow bi-metal jacket ammo on any of their lanes....is that not the case?

I need to buy a few boxes of the Hornady hunting 5.45...it's expensive but I can shoot it at GA Firing Line which is only about 15 mins from my house...

You might want to call there, and ask what kind of 5.45 they allow. Also I'm wanting to try some of that Red Army stuff as well & see how it shoots.
